Connect POSM to ArcGIS Online—No Enterprise License Needed

POSM AGOL Sync enables direct data exchange between POSM and ArcGIS Online (AGOL), making it easy to synchronize inspection data with your GIS. Designed for POSM Server users, this tool lets you push inspection results to hosted feature layers and pull GIS data into POSM for inspection setup—even when working offline.

POSM AGOL Sync Connects To ArcGIS

Key Benefits

  • Direct Integration with ArcGIS Online
Connect POSM directly to AGOL—no need for ArcGIS Enterprise or third-party middleware.
  • Push Inspections to AGOL
Send condition scores, observations, and hyperlinks to reports/videos into your hosted layers.
  • Pull GIS Data into POSM
Automatically load pipe and manhole layers for inspection prep and mapping.
  • Work Online or Offline
Use live AGOL maps in the office or export offline layers for field use.
  • Maintain Centralized, Synchronized Data
Keep your inspection system and GIS in sync for better asset management and decision-making.

How It Works

POSM AGOL Sync is available to customers using POSM Server with an active support contract. It supports two-way data movement between POSM and your ArcGIS Online environment:

  • Import from AGOL:
Pull pipe and structure data directly into POSM to populate inspections and maps.
  • Export to AGOL:
Push completed inspections, including metadata and hyperlinks to reports, back to your GIS.

Advanced Observation Mapping

New Feature Server Layer From POSM Server

POSM AGOL Sync also enables spatial mapping of inspection observations—even if they originally lack geometry:

  • From Table to Map: Observations stored without geometry in SQL Server views are converted to mapped features in ArcGIS Online.
  • Auto-Placement on Pipes: POSM calculates X and Y coordinates and places each observation in the correct location along the pipe segment.
  • Custom Coordinate System Support: Users define the coordinate system via the UI, and Python handles geometry creation and projection automatically.
  • Dynamic Layer Handling: The system can publish to a new AGOL feature layer or append to an existing one by matching sublayer names.

This ensures that detailed observation data isn't just stored—it’s mapped accurately for deeper insight and spatial reporting.
